What is Cloud Migration? Cloud migration is the process of moving data, applications, and even an entire IT infrastructure to the cloud. Cloud migration means that an organization’s digital assets are partially or entirely hosted on remote data centres instead of being on-premise. Examples of cloud service providers include AWS, Google Cloud, Microsft Azure, and IBM Cloud. Why Migrate to the Cloud? According to IDC (2018, quoted in AWS, n.d), migrating to the AWS cloud ecosystem allowed customers to experience 51% reduction in operations costs, 62% increase in IT staff productivity, and 94% reduction in service downtime. From consolidating digital assets, reducing IT costs, increasing staff productivity, and complete digital transformations, there are many different reasons for migrating to the cloud. In this workshop, we will learn about the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (AWS CAF), which helps organizations design and travel an accelerated path to successful cloud adoption. We will also examine the different stages of cloud adoption.
