**What is this session about?**
GitHub is a development platform that enables developers to host and review code, manage projects, and build software alongside 50 million developers. This session is an introduction to understanding more about what Git and GitHub. Participants will take their first step into the Open-Source world. Through the session, we will be going over the basics of Git and learn how to start contributing to Open-Source projects, through GitHub. We will also be discussing the best practices while contributing to Open-Source Projects.

**Who is it aimed at?**
The session is open for anyone aiming to learn how to maintain and organize code projects, make contributions to Open-Source, and learn the skills to strengthen their portfolio.

**Why should you attend?**
Git and GitHub not only serves as an amazing tool but also are two important skills in a budding developer's career. Through the session, as we get to learn how to get started with Open Source, participants could then build their online portfolios by making their own contributions.

Abshar is a GitHub Campus Expert, Microsoft Student Learn Ambassador, and Third-Year Computer Science Engineering Student at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus.
