The Internet of Things (IoT) has rapidly become one of the most familiar — and perhaps most hyped — expressions across business and technology. 20 billion things will be internet-connected by 2020. A number of programming languages and development tools have emerged to develop IoT applications. One of them, Node-RED is a flow-based development tool developed originally by IBM for wiring together hardware devices, APIs and online services as part of the Internet of Things. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a whirlwind introduction of IoT and its applications with some practical examples on using Node-RED on a Raspberry Pi.
